Bahia Magdalena
This was our second morning at Boca de Soledad, and we spent it observing the movements of several gray whale mothers with their calves. After sunrise cruises in the Zodiacs, most of us headed for the beach for a final walk among the magnificent dunes of Isla Magdalena. We returned to the Sea Bird late in the morning, raised the anchor and began the slalom course through the gray whales as we made our way south through the "nursery" area and the narrowest part of the bay known as Devil's Bend. By late afternoon we'd transited the entire bay, and were feeling the slow, gentle roll of Pacific swells behind us.
