Another day at sea. The Caledonian Star continues to make her way across the Scotia Sea to South Georgia Island. It is there where an abundance of history and wildlife await us. The thought of the massive king penguin colonies is enough to send any photographer into a tizzy. And of course we have all heard the familiar story of Shackleton and his journey to South Georgia from Elephant Island. However, today guest lecturer Tony Ellerbeck gave us some insight to the more recent history of the island. Tony was the flight commander for the HMS Endurance during the Falkland/Malvinas War of 1982.

The days at sea traveling to these incredible places create different possibilities for different people. For some it is a chance to relax and perhaps read a book or take in a lecture. Others find it a fantastic opportunity to look at the different birds that trail behind the ship.

For the crew on board the Caledonian Star, it means business as usual, no matter what the conditions. The carpenter continues to create new shelves and cabinets. The engine crew makes sure the engine runs smoothly as we cross the sea. For the galley crew, they face a particular challenge. In the course of feeding the 118 guests onboard, the galley braves the bump of the waves, the sliding of dishes and food, to create the most delicious gourmet food. Cheers to you galley, and Bon Appetit.
