This is our first day of this photography expedition on board National Geographic Sea Lion and there is no better way to welcome all of us than visiting the Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most beautiful protected areas of Costa Rica.
Little by little everyone got ready to disembark and got ready at the beach. Cameras, tripods and all kinds of photography gear were transported so we could enjoy our first photography challenge, the experience of photographing in the tropics.
It didn’t take us too long to find our first “models” of the day, the famous white-throated Capuchin-monkey. Those graceful animals were moving all over the place, giving all of us many opportunities to get that perfect shot we were looking for. No doubt, the most amazing experience was to meet an old alpha male. It was clear to all of us that he was not the alpha of the troop anymore, and the most impressive part of that experience was to see all the scars he got on his face, probably from the fights he had to deal with while he was in charge of his troop. Definitely, that was an amazing experience, not only to get some amazing shots but also to learn something new about the natural history of these beautiful creatures.
As the day continued, we all found lots of wildlife to photograph: sloths, iguanas, raccoons and many more kept all of busy all day, and of course happy as well.
Finally, and to close with a perfect day, a session of recaps and a delicious dinner were waiting for all of us on board our beloved National Geographic Sea Lion.
