We woke up this morning sailing against a southern wind on our way to Los Islotes, the rocky islets where a large colony of California sea lions have found a safe home, as it is protected from fishing.

Los Islotes is a very lively home as many bird species share the volcanic rock formations with the barking sea lions.

Guests climbed aboard our expedition landing craft to observe the show of diverse birds such as the blue-footed and brown boobies, the endemic yellow-footed gulls, and the cormorants claiming their space on the rocks among the older sea lions who were basking in the sunshine while the young ones were swimming and playing in the water.

With wetsuits on and our snorkeling gear in place, we plunged in the water to encounter the playful young creatures that seemed to enjoy blowing bubbles in our face and biting our fins and swirling around us. What a show!

We spent our last afternoon on a beautiful beach in Bahia Bonanza where the wind had died down and the water was smooth and clear.

Some went to explore the vegetation and the land away from shore with the naturalists, some walked along the two-mile stretch of beach and others chose to kayak in the bay or take a swim in the clear water.

The sunset displayed an array of pastel colors in the sky, on the rocks and on the water, and on the ship.

Back on board, we celebrated our last meal together sharing the highlight of our beautiful journey among the whales in Baja California, and Captain Kay joined us for the farewell dinner.
