Depending on one’s desire, we all had a different day,
Some preferred to stay in, while others were out to play.
Wandering albatross- spotted, storm petrels follow close too,
Antarctica in our wake, a place we love, we knew.
Though we be a fleck of iron, sailing in the big blue drink,
Enormous memories, beckon us to stop and think,
How fortunate! How grand! Oh, what a fantastic place!
Daydreams of penguins and ice, lights a smile on every face.
We learned of the hardships, from Shackleton’s rugged trip,
And of stinky penguin facts, delivered from our staff lips.
Folks flitted though their cameras, lovely photos and the like,
Photo experts shared their expertise- Chris and Rich shared the mic.
As we cross the Drake again, thirsts for knowledge not yet quenched,
Marylou revealed krill’s plight, the back deck getting drenched.
Salty sprays splashed the faces of some on deck fellow,
And it truly was a great day, full of colors bright and mellow!
