Cabo Velas and Tamarindo
After a memorable time in Nicaragua, we navigated fifty five nautical miles back to Playas del Coco, Costa Rica. After clearing immigration and costumes we departed with perfectly calm seas, a spectacular view of green and brown colours on the rocky formations and perfect sunny weather. As we were heading south, we had the privilege of finding a juvenile humpback whale; this individual performed an amazing show for our guests attributable of breaching and fluking. This exhibit kept us with our eyes wide open and exhilarating expressions of admiration. Once we reached Cabo Velas, we found a secluded beach named Zapotal. We enjoyed the morning, with snorkeling, kayaking and swimming from the beach, as well as a nature walk along the tropical dry forest and beach.
After returning to the ship for lunch, we repositioned to the area of Tamarindo Beach. This developed town and surfing mecca gave us the chance to take some surfing lessons, walk along the commercial part of town for a shopping opportunity and stroll on a wide beach with rocky formations that looked like precious gems on the white sand. By 3:30pm a shroud of rain approached from the east and refreshed and bathed some of us. Later on, during our navigation toward our next destination, Bernal enlightened us to understand the key moments and facts of Costa Rican history, with a presentation at the lounge. A complete day to celebrate another day in paradise.
