Manuel Antonio National Park, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

A small National Park was our last destination of the week. A beautiful beach entertained us in the surf, while others went on two different walks. The green lush vegetation of the Manuel Antonio rainforest supports an amazing population of medium-sized mammals. White throated capuchins, Central American agoutis, mantled howler monkeys, Hoffmann’s two-toed sloths and brown-throated three-toed sloths roamed close to the trails and gave us great sightings. Most people decided to take the fun adventure of zip lining. The adrenaline rushed and the fun came as people were flying among the treetops. A terrifying start soon turned into a pleasant flight and the fear of heights turned into joy in the canopy. The view of a bird is possible while gliding along the length of the cable from platform to platform. At the end the zipping pulley and the bird songs make the ride more relaxing. Wildlife, sun, beach, water and adrenaline were the right ingredients to end a wonderful week on board the Sea Voyager.

Inspiring poems from some of the young adventurers describe how wonderful the trip was:

Zoom black Zodiac
Zodiac is zooming fast
Bumpy bumpy fun

Holly Hickman (age 9)

Having fun surfing
Riding all the biggest waves
Learning some cool tricks

Andrew Hickman (age 12)

Marvelous
On the trees
Never boring to see
Kind in many ways
Easier to spot
Young ones are cool

Andrew Hickman (age 12)

Reef
Awesome, exquisite
Living, moving, growing
Always exciting to see
Coral

Andrew Hickman (age 12)

Sea foam calling
Under the curl
Ride a wave
Fun for girls

Umbrella opens wide
Rain to fall from sky above
Not on my fair head

Cow
In meadow
Birds are picking
The fleas from hide
Symbiotic
