The wonders of the undersea world were revealed to us through our morning snorkel. From our snorkel boat anchored just off the rocky shores of Los Islotes, we quickly slipped on mask and fins and slid into the clear green water. Below us swam not just the fishes of the deep, but also the sleek, cavorting bodies of California sea lions. During May and June of each year the rocky shores Los Islotes are carved into pieces of real estate by territorial male sea lions. Now in December, the pups that were born earlier in the year have grown into playful, curious juveniles. From our vantage point, we have clear, unobstructed views of their antics beneath the water's surface. The sea lions tumble and turn in the water, finding our brightly colored fins and wetsuits objects of much curiosity. After our morning snorkel, we sailed south to the wide, white sandy beaches of Bahia Bonanza. We spent the afternoon exploring the coastline in kayaks and wandering through the desert landscape one final time.

Sperm whales are one of the 33 species of marine mammals that can be found in the Sea of Cortez. We spent two hours watching these animals before finding the perfect beach for our final afternoon.
