Rounding the famous rock arch at Land's End we leave the Gulf of California behind and head north into the Pacific. Still hidden from the swelling seas, the false cape lies ahead. No light shines from the lower shore, for decades of sand saltating south polished and engulfed the structure. Silhouetted by the setting sun it warns of nearby shoals.
Once past this point a gentle rolling swell turns our vessel into a cradle for tired souls. Exhausted from thrills of humpback whales, dolphin nurseries and hummingbirds with fiery bills, we seek solitude for thinking of days gone by and more excitement yet to come.
