We awoke this morning near the entrance to Tracy Arm Fjord. Sheets of southeast Alaskan sunshine fell from the low gray sky. Hundreds o f waterfalls streamed out of the clouds and down the walls of the fjord like ribbons of lace. Our trip to rendezvous with the Sawyer and South Sawyer glaciers was interrupted by a pod of at least 8 orca swimming down the fjord towards Stephens Passage. After observing these magnificent creatures for over an hour, the Sea Bird continued up the fjord. We arrived at South Sawyer glacier just in time to watch a huge section of the glacial face collapse and calve into the water. After a full morning in Tracy Arm, we headed down to William's Cove to enjoy some hiking in the temperate rainforest of southeast Alaska.
