Every day is a new experience on the Galapagos Islands. I have been away from the archipelago for several weeks and I came back yesterday to the Polaris. To come back and see all these animals is like coming back to a different world. This morning we explored the beautiful area of Punta Suarez, full of blue-footed boobies dancing here and there, marine iguanas sun-bathing on almost every rock, and sea lions. We saw also a bachelor sea lion colony where some young sea lions were preparing to be beach masters, and some older individuals, who looked retired from the job. Well, we have talked about the morning, but the afternoon was even better. We had the chance of many different options: snorkeling, glass-bottom boating, swimming, or just enjoying a beautiful time on a white coraline sand beach. In the glass-bottom boat we saw many different tropical fish, barnacles, sea cucumbers, giant sea stars and many other different under-water creatures. Afterwards, some of our guests decided to go to the beach. It was great because we found many sea lions resting on the sand as if they had had a big party the night before. It was a lot of fun, and I took a picture of a singular sea lion in a strange posture, twisted around in a seemingly uncomfortable position, but actually contentedly asleep. Actually, they can easily touch their tails with their noses without any effort. We had a great day, another day in paradise.
