Even though it sounds pretty romantic, no, this is not the last sunset taken from the Titanic before it sank into the vast ocean, it is a beautiful sunset taken from the Polaris. We were just simply enjoying the magnificence of sunsets in the Galapagos Islands.….and we were not sinking!
Today, the sun dominated the daytime sky. The beautiful clear blue hue of the sky is typical of Galapagos this time of year, the hot season. The blue light resulted from the way the gases and dust of our atmosphere scatter sunlight. The scattering also provides us with the suffused lights of dawn and twilight and the brilliant colors of today's sunset and after glows. Wherever we looked, everything had a special brightness. Early in the morning, the visit at the Post Office Bay revealed part of the human history of Floreana Island. Later in the afternoon, the flamingos, shore birds and turtles made our visit to the island even more enjoyable. To end this more than perfect day, we could not have asked for anything better than "a sunset to remember".
