Isabela Island

What a fabulous day! We woke up this morning with a beautiful sunrise. Dolphins showed up before breakfast and made an incredible display of their abilities as masters of the sea. Later in the morning, with the ocean dead calm, we headed off for a Zodiac ride along the coast of Punta Vicente Roca, Isabela Island. Our target: to find Mola mola! Beginning a little over a year ago, we've been seeing this type of fish almost every week. We realize that we are really lucky, traveling in an area where everything is rare and special. "There it is!" Those were the words our guests exclaimed when spotting the famous sunfish. Naturalists radio to one another to let everyone know the location of the fish. Nobody wants to miss it. But today, when everyone was together, the incredible happened & the Mola mola started jumping out of the water! They left a huge white splash of water behind them and amazement on the face of our guests. With mouths wide open, an expression of happiness flooded their faces. Among our guests this voyage are a filming team from the Travel Channel. They were able to get some incredible footage of this fish underwater while snorkeling alongside it. It is hard for anyone to describe what it is like to swim with a Mola mola. Our limited vocabulary does not allow us to express such things, and there are no words to describe a glimpse of heaven on earth.
