Floreana Island
We never know what is going to happen during these visits. Floreana Island is very well known as the mystery island for several reasons, and one of them refers to the murders of some German families during the decade of 1930-1940. However, the visitor sites were full of surprises in terms of wild life. The lagoon was holding a great number of waders where the main attraction was the nesting pink flamingos. This is a type of bird species which is considered in danger of extinction, but for three years on a road we have been seeing some of these guys nesting in this lagoon and that is successful news, therefore the number is increasing little by little, and our hope is that they will recover the population.
We also had the chance to go in the water for times, and both were amazing. The representation of the marine life in these areas is typical of an isolated biota. The Galápagos fish represent a mix of Panamic and Indo-Pacific faunas but are dominated by species from the Panamic and neighbouring provinces, and the main attraction was the most acrobatic of the species….Galápagos sea lions. It is very important to mention that the amount of fish that we saw today was so abundant that it is hard to say a number, but this was certainly another experience of a life time.
