Isabela & Fernandina Islands
Today, the western side of the Galapagos once again revealed its beauty before our eyes. A morning full of encounters; dolphins, whales, sunfish and even a sword fish that, carelessly, swan very close to the ship for more than fifteen minutes. Later in the morning a blue footed booby’s feeding frenzy attracted our attention. There were hundreds of them plunging into the crystal clear waters along side Punta Vicente Roca, at Isabela Island.
It is not surprising that Darwin was so struck by the life he found in these islands. There are unique species and varieties and examples of divergence in almost every group of plants and animals. I am so lucky to spend my time in a place where by night you can see the stars and, by day, the sea lions play among the waves. When seeing things like this, I definitely believe that we are all one. Birds, plants, animals, minerals, we are all different manifestations of the same essential energy. Our way ahead, our searches and dreams are the expression of the life experience of everything that makes up our planet. I am sure that by caring for it, we will help each other to grow…
