"My most Beloved,
The wind blows from the south and the skies, as if not understanding the wishes of Poseidon, King of the Oceans, change in mood from sunny blues to misty whites.
My eyes do not stop marveling at the sight of these all-young volcanoes that rise above the western part of the Galapagos Archipelago.
The delight delivered to me by this early afternoon encounter surpasses any experience during this voyage. Rissos dolphins appeared in the middle of the channel between the largest and the youngest island. With their short snouts and their straight up fins, they brought us the greatest pleasure.
The walk on the fresh lava of Fernandina was extremely enjoyable. Iguanas and cormorants made us think about the way species evolve in this third planet of the solar system. One truly extraordinary day I must say. However, we start to hear some tremors from the highest peaks of this most grandiose volcano."
A letter washed up on the beach of Fernandina, next to the remains of an undated shipwreck. The paper seems either very old or very weathered. Real or fictitious, ancient or new, all that we read described in the letter is exactly what we encountered during today's visit.
