Mo’orea

After a good night’s rest, this morning we set sail from Tahiti beginning our Photo Expedition in French Polynesia. Our first stop was the exceptionally beautiful island of Mo’orea. Luck was with us as we entered the barrier reef at Cook’s Bay under mostly blue skies. The sharp mountainous spires were draped in clouds and the views were dramatic. We were eager to head off for our afternoon adventures. One group headed off to scuba dive in the lagoon, while another sought out snorkeling inside the reef. Corals and a great variety of fish opened our eyes to the treasures of the South Pacific undersea world. Most joined a tour of the entire island, circumnavigating it by motor coach. The afternoon rains came quickly and the island’s waterfalls were open for business. As the day drew to a close, a tantalizing rainbow was left behind along with a lingering blaze of sunset colors as we returned to the ship.
