Floreana Island
Everything seems to be so perfect in this island! The chain of mountains is so beautiful, the human history is fascinating, and the pink flamingoes were really colorful, but today’s under water experience has been definitely unforgettable! Champion islet and Devil’s crown are some of the best snorkeling sites in the entire archipelago. These are places where the under water topography becomes something to admire, however the most remarkable thing here is the marine life itself. Areas like this are surrounded by upwells that bring an incredible amount of organisms that would hold larger communities. Marine life was well represented today, and we found large amounts of not only colorful fish but sea lions, rays, turtles and sharks. Even the endemism is really high in the marine ecosystem of the Galápagos, primarily due to the isolation of the island and its intricate current system. After all that we have seen we can only conclude that this has been a successful day!
