It was an exciting day, which included a landing on the Antarctic Peninsula at Pitt Point. As we navigated through the ice, we spotted several groups of killer whales. Everyone rushed out on deck with cameras and videos in hand as the ship maneuvered slowly for a close look. Today's photo shows the dorsal fin of a female killer whale as it surfaced among the ice floes. In all, we counted more than 60 animals as they surfaced against the background of the ice-cloaked spine of the Antarctic Peninsula.
