James Napoli
Jim was born in rural New England where he quickly developed an appreciation for the outdoors and a love of exploration. Four years with the U.S. Navy further enhanced his appetite for travel. Always interested in the visual arts, he studied Television at Boston University and Northeast College of Communications, landing his first job in the industry working as an editor at a Boston television station. His wanderlust drew him to a job with two major cruise lines; installing and managing broadcast centers onboard a total of over a dozen ships. He has since moved on to specialize in expedition travel and wildlife productions.
Being ‘out in the field’ on assignment is a passion of his; gathering footage while camping in remote areas like Antarctica and the steppes of Asia. He especially enjoys filming the natural behavior and interactions of animals, along with capturing true, uncorrupted sounds of the wildlife in their natural settings. He is a regular contributor of nature pieces to CBS’s Sunday Morning and his footage has been showcased on several networks. Jim now lives in the mountains outside of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.
As video chronicler, Jim has his cameras at-the-ready 24 hours a day and seven days a week, with just one goal: to capture the essence of each expedition. Voyage DVDs are available at the end of each expedition—they often prove to be remarkable ways of remembering and recapturing the magic of these remarkable journeys.
